VCF is also keeping a separate “mentor” database. This consists of VCF members who would be willing to be assigned as a mentor to a new graduate for perhaps their first year after graduation. We envisage that “mentors” will be available to encourage, give practical advice and pray with (and for) new graduates as they experience the turmoil of finding and starting (and perhaps finishing) their first job as a vet. We have announced the availability of the scheme to the CUs at the veterinary faculties and let individual students initiate a request for a mentor. It would seem most appropriate if mentors and new graduates already know each other where possible. I would therefore encourage all prospective mentors to also register for the seeing practice database if possible.
