Short Term Mission

  • Do you want to use your Veterinary skills to help share your faith?
  • Do you want to experience different cultures?
  • Do you want to see God working in ways which you cannot imagine?
  • Do you want to grow your own faith?
  • Would you like to trust God more?
  • Would you like to be challenged?

Short term mission projects can do all of the above and more, in a way which is manageable and achievable for working vets or vet students.

Christian Veterinary Mission in the USA has been facilitating and organising short term mission for many years. You can read more on their website Christian Veterinary Mission www.cvm.org. Placements are with CVM long term missionaries or with other Christian vets working with other organisations. The principle is that there is no expense for the sending organisation or the people you are visiting, so you pay your own transport costs and an agreed daily figure for food, accommodation, local transport and translation. Many short term participants will get sponsorship from their friends, family or church if they are not in a position to fund the trip themselves. Indeed there are great advantages to this approach, because it means that many other people are interested in what you are doing and providing prayer support during your trip.

Most placements are for 2 weeks although some may be longer than this.

If you are interested in applying to do a trip please email our international coordinator at international@vcf.org.uk. You will need to fill in an application form, references will be taken up and if all is well you will soon be on your way!

Our international co-ordinator role is to try and foster co-operation between VCF and other Christian Veterinary Organisations around the world, so if you are interested in developing links with us then feel free to contact them.
