Regional Groups

When I went along to my first VCF conference, in 2011, I remember hearing about the regional groups – and to me, it seemed like such an obvious thing to want to do. How could meeting up with VCF folk only every one or two years be enough to build friendships, to support each other, to pray with and for each other, and to encourage each other as we seek to reach our colleagues with God’s love. I have been co-ordinating the West Midlands group for 8 years now, and it has been a genuine privilege. Due to everyone being busy, it is impossible to get everyone together at the same time, and we never seem to have the same group twice! Despite all of this, we have built up firm friendships over the years, have shared a lot of laughter, as well as having being able to support each other, and pray for each other, through some very tough times. We have seen amazing answers to prayer for work situations, family problems, and much more. It is such a privilege to be able to discuss issues at work with people who really ‘get it’. Yes, we have a lot in common as vets and nurses, but so much deeper is what we have in common in Christ. There are various groups across the UK – some meet for walks, other for bible study, or discussion, and prayer. The one thing all the groups seem to have in common is food of some kind!
In some areas, it may be difficult to get a group together – but what about two of you getting together for a coffee, or a meal? With 12 VCF students graduating this year alone there may be a new or young graduate in your area who would really appreciate meeting up with someone to chat and pray about work. If you would like to get in touch with other VCF members in your area, please contact me at regional@vcf.org.uk
It can sometimes seem difficult to find time in our busy schedules to meet up with each other – but when we do, it is so valuable.
