The Virtual VCF day took place on Saturday 18th May and was a wonderful opportunity for people to meet from around the world, and to drop in and contribute whenever suited them best.
It was a joy to catch up with folk from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe, America and across the UK all praying and sharing together.
In the morning, Anne McMahon led an excellent study on ‘Gratitude’. Christianne Glossop talked in the afternoon about ‘Running the Race’ and Robert Jones looked at the ‘Psalms of Ascent’.
The day was interspersed with chances to chat, catch up, and meet one another. There were many excellent videos from the vet schools, the vet nurses, those working in ministries away from home, and very special video greetings from folk across the world.
Below is some of the feedback from those attending, and details of Ann and Christianne’s talks.
“A warm, friendly feel on Zoom – good to meet old friends and make new ones – excellent, thought provoking and practical ministry – excitement at the growth and diversity within VCF – students at college keen to share Jesus with their colleagues! I so enjoyed the chat times, and hearing from those sharing faith and veterinary expertise overseas. Kerry, you did a wonderful job keeping things on track, as did hosts like Helen Jones making sure no one was left out. Having been involved with VCF since the early 1960s I’m delighted, humbled and excited with all God is doing, and the members and committee who are putting His will into practice!”
“We really enjoyed catching up with some friends who are currently scattered all over the globe! It was also great to meet some new people, whom we didn’t know so well. We found the chats with the mission partners really interesting, as it was lovely to hear from the people we see mentioned in VCF newsletters, and get to know them better.
The more formal sessions provided much food for thought, along with helpful ways to apply principles in our lives. There was a lot to reflect on and think about throughout the day and much to take away. The interactive nature with the breakout rooms really added to the day, as it gave us the opportunity to apply and discuss the ideas from the sessions. We both found it an enjoyable and stimulating day and want to thank everyone involved in organising and leading on the day.”
“Although I was only able to attend part of the day, it was a great experience both socially and in learning from people who have walked a different road in life with experiences varied. I was also able to catch up with those who have been part of my professional career since my student days. All in all, a highly valuable experience. I hope VCF keep these on-line days especially for those who can’t attend in person.”
“Sharing how we have been doing in West Africa, and praying together was such a blessing. We enjoyed hearing from other missionaries, too. Jan Morrow sharing about his experiences as a mission kid was an encouragement for our 16-year-old son who happened to walk into the room. It is so good to stay connected! A big thank you to all involved!”
